Let Out the Back Door Without Probable Cause for Arrest

When you are arrested without having done anything wrong, it can be humiliating and degrading. You could be arrested in front of your neighbors, family or co-workers. You may be forced to wait in a cell for up to 24 hours before they let you go, without ever having the chance to see a judge or defend yourself publicly.

This is often referred to as being "let out the back door." At the law office of Edward Friedman, we represent individuals who have been arrested and held by police without probable cause. Contact Brooklyn attorney Edward Friedman to discuss your case and your rights.

What to Do When You Are Arrested and Released With No Charges Filed

When a police officer makes an arrest, he or she puts the suspect in a cell at central booking and then must go to the district attorney to file a complaint. The officer will tell the DA what he or she saw and what led to the arrest. If the DA determines that there was no probable cause to make the arrest, then the DA will instruct the police department to release the person who was arrested.

It is illegal for the police to arrest you without probable cause. If you were let go without seeing a judge, it is a false arrest, and we can help you with your case. We represent clients in Brooklyn and throughout the five boroughs and help them seek compensation for the humiliation and harmed caused by their illegal arrests.
